Boos, Blows Prevail Among Lawmakers As Buhari Presents 2019 Budget

President Muhammadu Buhari, on Wednesday, presented the 2019 budget to the National Assembly although he was interrupted intermittently by protesting lawmakers.

Buhari arrived at the National Assembly for a Joint Session on the 2019 Appropriation Bill around 12:53pm.

After a short prayer, began presenting the budget.

The president while addressing the joint session listed the achievements of his administration and was interrupted intermittently by protesting lawmakers, who as he mentioned each achievement, they chorused, ‘No!’

The development forced the All Progressives Congress lawmakers to clash and trade blows with the opposition lawmakers as they booed the President.

When he said, “We have weathered the storms and made progress on every front,” They screamed, “Nooooo! Boooo!”

When he said, “The economy has recovered well,‎” the lawmakers screamed again.

Buhari who was displeased with the development was forced to say, “The world is watching us and we are supposed to be above this.”

For the trading of blows, trouble started after some APC lawmakers seized the placards which some of their PDP colleagues planned to use in protesting against the president.
