Benue State University Student and Girlfriend Killed in Cult War
Benue State University, Makurdi has been hit by raids of cultists again as Solomon Aondoaseer, a 21-year student of the Department of Geography, was gruesomely murdered along with his girlfriend.
Aondoaseer and Doofan Agbaja his girlfriend who is a food vendor in the area where the student lived – were hacked to death in the middle of the night.
Doofan Agbaja became a victim of a war she knew nothing about when she spent the night with Aondoaseer.
Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Mr. Moses Yamu while confirming the report said the duo was hacked down outside the compound, Punch reports.
“The assailants pulled them out of the compound to an open ground in front of the house and hacked them to death with machetes,” he said.
The police spokesman said five suspects have since been apprehended following the killing, namely: Paul Adum (aka Reborn), Thaddeus Ukaaku (aka Waters), Damian Swem (aka Dammy), Terkumbur Gber (aka Shanke) and Teryila Aondona (aka Nasco).
The Police PRO added that they confessed to the crime, stating that they went on the attack because he belonged to a rival group.
Students of BSU claimed Aondoaseer was a member of a rival cult group called the Red Viper, who had had a running battle for supremacy with the Black Axe members believed to be his assailants.
Aondoaseer’s murder is yet another worrying indication of an upsurge in violent crimes by campus cultists in the state.
No fewer than 10 lives have been claimed in various confrontations involving cultists on campuses in Benue state this year.
