Benue State SSG Collapses After Marathon Meeting

Benue State SSG Targema Takema, the Secretary to the Benue State government, collapsed at his home in Makurdi on Friday after attending the state’s executive council meeting that was said to have lasted almost 24 hours.

According to the Punch Newspapers,  Takema collapsed around 11 am and was immediately  rushed to the state’s teaching hospital Makurdi and is responding to treatment.

An unnamed family member of Takema revealed that the SSG had a brain tumour and that the prolonged meeting might have aggravated his condition to the newspaper.

 The Special Adviser to the state governor on Media and ICT,  Tarhav Agerzua,  confirmed that the SSG was receiving treatment at the Benue State University Teaching Hospital, the paper said.
A report from Vanguard states that doctors at the hospital claimed that Mr Takema suffered a serious stroke but was in stable condition.
The Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Terver Akase who confirmed the incident, said the Governor had already visited Mr.Takema at the hospital.
“Yes it is true that the SSG slumped, but he was rushed to the hospital where he is in stable condition and also responding to treatment.”
