Auchi Polytechnic Riot lead to 3 Deaths

The students of Auchi Polytechnic in Edo State have staged a riot over management’s policy that no student will be allowed to take the semester examinations until they have paid their school fees.

Auchi Poly Blog is reporting that three yet-to-be-identified students have been shot dead by the security agency -Fazal, employed by the school. The blog, which cites eye witness reports, said that a Department of Mass Communications student, Susan Ojie, confirmed the news of shooting and deaths, while another witness from the Department of Business Administration said that the Campus 2 was set on fire.

It is unclear if the state security agents have taken over the situation, but social media users add that the riot was still going on as at press time.

Students of Auchi Poly, Edo State, protest the killing of 2 students by security operatives . . The incident allegedly happened as students tried to force their way into the examination hall despite the “no fees, no exam” directive by the polytechnic management.
