Amber Heard Donates Divorce Settlements to Charity

Those who thought actress Amber Heard was digging have been proven wrong as the actress revealed to haters and doubting Thomases that her divorce from Johnny Depp was never about the money .

Amber struck gold with the $7 million divorce settlement she received from estranged husband- Johnny Depp, don’t expect Heard to be living la vida loca as a result.

The the Rum Diaries actress isn’t going to be splurging on anything soon but has chosen two charities to benefit from the money she came into — Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles and the ACLU (American Civil Liberties Union).

Amber Heard who filed a restraining order against Johnny Depp accusing him of domestic violence, announced her decision in a statement to Us Weekly, on Thursday, 18 August. She made good on her promise to give away the millions she received from her soon-to-be ex-husband.

“As described in the restraining order and divorce settlement, money played no role for me personally and never has, except to the extent that I could donate it to charity and, in doing so, hopefully help those less able to defend themselves,” She emphasised.

“As reported in the media, the amount received in the divorce was $7 million and $7 million is being donated,”

“This is over and above any funds that I have given away in the past and will continue to give away in the future,” the 30-year-old said.

“I know these organisations will put the funds to good use and look forward to continuing to support them in the future,” she said. “Hopefully, this experience results in a positive change in the lives of people who need it the most,” Heard concluded.

Amber Heard and Johnny Depp reached the settlement on Tuesday, a day before they were to appear in court.

The executive director of the American Civil Liberties Union, thanked Ms Heard for her largesse noting:
“We are incredibly grateful that Ms Heard has so very generously shown her support for the important and necessary advocacy for victims of domestic violence.”
