Adamawa Doctor Arrested for Removing Patient’s Kidney

tray33A medical doctor based in Adamawa State,Hassan Yakubu, has been arrested by the state’s police command for allegedly removing the kidney of a 24-year-old male patient, Isa Hamma in his clinic.

The Punch reports that the police said the doctor would aid in investigations into the alleged removal and theft of the patient’s kidney in his clinic after the patient was oerated on.

The doctor reportedly had operated on Hamma for a stomach condition but ended up removing his kidney in the process. This happened on July 8. Three days later the patient could not urinate.

The patient Isa Hamma had statred experiencing leg swelling and he was rushed back to Yakubu’s clinic. The doctor then referred them to the Federal Medical Centre in Gombe. It was at the FMC that doctors said Hamma’s kidney had been removed.

While speaking with newsmen, the command’s Public Relations Officer, Othman Abubakar, confirmed the arrest of the doctor on Tuesday in Yola. He also said the removal and theft of Hamma’s kidney has left him with a life-threatening condition.
