Abusidiqu’s statement on his Release from EFCC Detention

Political blogger, Abubakar Usman (@ Abusidiqu) has finally been released by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) after spending at least 36 hours in their custody over an allegation of ‘cyberstalking’.

The blogger’s lawyer, Michael Bello, confirmed that he has been released on administrative bail and must be available when the EFCC demands according to Premium Times.

“I can confirm to you that my client has just been released on bail,” Mr. Bello told PREMIUM TIMES. “He is very grateful to Nigerians for voicing out against his detention.”

Abusidiqu’s family said he was arrested by the operatives of the EFCC over a critical report he published against the graft agency’s Chairman, Ibrahim Magu. And not long after the news broke, Nigerians trooped to social media platforms to demand his release.

Speaking for the first time since his release, the blogger said via a new video published on Twitter that he will never back down.

“I want to say again that my voice will not be silenced, irrespective of whatever they think they have done to me here. I will continue to do what I have always been doing, and I say ‘no retreat, no surrender’,” he said.
