Senate Crash Price of JAMB, Increase Validity Period

The 8th Senate has passed a resolution to reduce the registration fee of Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) popularly referred to as JAMB from N5,650 to N2,500 while discussing possibilities of extending the validation period of the exam.

The resolution was adopted by the House following the adoption of the report of the Senate Committee on Tertiary Institutions and TETFund, on the inquiry into the new admission policy of the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) at the resumed plenary session on Wednesday.

The committee recommended that the validity period of the UTME should be extended to three academic years.

The Senate also adopted the recommendation of the Committee chaired by Senator Binta Masi Garba that the change of institution, course form and other incidental activities around the exam should be free.
