Rickey Tarfa Sues MTN, EFCC Chairman and Femi Falana for N5bn

Rickey Tarfa, the embattled Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) has filed a fundamental rights suit against the Economic and Financial Commission (EFCC) and telecommunication giant, MTN, over the violation of his privacy.

Tarfa is currently under trial for allegedly obstructing justice and has named the EFCC chairman, Ibrahim Magu, top lawyer, Femi Falana and Rashidatou Abdou as defendants in the said suit.

He is asking the court to order the defendants to pay him the sum of N5 billion as damages.

The lawyer is praying a court to declare that his right to privacy was violated when his mobile phone was assessed without his permission and his call records given to New York based Sahara Reporters and other news portal.

Rickey Tarfa had earlier admitted to paying the sum of N250,000 to Justice Yunusa of a Federal High Court, however, he said that the payment was a gift to the judge for the funeral of his late father.
