71 Year old Agent Charged to Court for duping Tenant of 2.6m

Fake Air Force Officer Arrested for Beating Policewoman police arrest jibowu police inspector,The Nigerian Police FCIDA 71 year-old man, Bamidele Doherty, is currently facing trial at the Igbosere Magistrate’s Court in Lagos, for allegedly duping a woman of N2.6 million.

The elderly man is being tried along with 3 other suspects still at large; Jubrin Yusuf, 47; Mathew Adeniyi, 39; and Kehinde Adeleye, 35, is said to have pretended to be a landlord in the highbrow Ikoyi area and along with the others, collected the sum of N2.6 million from the unnamed victim under the guise of securing a two-bedroom apartment for her in Parkview Estate, Ikoyi.

He is said to have disappeared afterwards.

According to Vanguard, the prosecutor, Cyriacus Osuji stated that the incident happened on June 5 at Parkview Estate, Ikoyi.

“The accused conspired and introduced Doherty to the complainant as the landlord of the apartment. The complainant then transferred the N2.6 million online and the accused disappeared with the money until they were apprehended by the police.”

The magistrate, Mrs A. Y. Omeyele, granted a bail of N250,000, with two sureties each in like sum, to the accused and also ruled that sureties must produce evidence of tax payment and be gainfully employed before adjourning the case till August 2.

The suspects are being tried on a four-count charge bordering on conspiracy, fraud and stealing.
