Kogi Elections Declared Inconclusive, Audu Passes On

Confusion has hit Kogi as the governorship elections has been declared inconclusive by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kogi state, Abubakar Audu has been reported dead.

INEC returning officer for the election, Emmanuel Kucha, announced this at the INEC headquarters in the state.

Kucha stated that gap between the two leading candidates, governor of the state; Idris Wada and Abubakar Audu was less than the number of the cancelled votes.

According to Kucha, the number of cancelled votes is 49,953 and the margin between Audu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Wada, is 41,353.

Audu secured 240,867 votes, while Idris polled 199,514 votes, and as such, the electoral body will conduct a supplementary election.

According to Saharareporters, Audu died of undisclosed medical reasons shortly after his victory was declared inconclusive by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The cause of his death remains unknown at this moment, as people in the streets of Lokoja, are seen whispering in hushed tones, as reality gradually overtakes disbelief.

The Cable, however reports that Audu suffered a stroke at 9am on Sunday and another one later in the day, before he gave up the ghost in the evening.

The Kogi State Governor has declared 7 days of mourning for the late Abubakar Audu who will be buried according to Islamic rites today in his hometown.
