Police arrest Oliseh with Bags of Indian Hemp in Ogun

George Oliseh, a dismissed police officer parading himself as a Superintendent of Police has been arrested in possession of 10 bags of weed suspected to be Indian Hemp. He was paraded alongside a serial killer, fraudster and others in Ogun State yesterday.

The State Police Commissioner, Abdulmajid Ali, paraded 37 suspects at the command’s headquarters in Eleweran, Abeokuta for offences ranging from armed robbery, murder, impersonation and cultism.

Mr Abdulmajid Ali said George Oliseh was arrested in Sagamu on Sunday with a fake identity card on his way to Owo town, wearing a police uniform. The former corporal was transporting illegal weed in his Toyota Camry car with number plates RSH 101 RE in the company of an accomplice, Isaac Ishicheli, whom he claimed to be his brother-in-law.

64-year-old Oliseh blamed his actions on poverty and frustration stating that the drug business was a means to care for his large family of 5 wives and 23 children as he had suffered a partial stroke, affecting his left hand and leg after being dismissed from the Force, therefore, but he became a transporter of Indian Hemp plying Idanre and Akure.

“It was Inspector Umukoro, an Urhobo man from Delta, who introduced the Indian hemp business to me, and I embraced it. I was also a former corporal in the Police Force, I joined in 2002, but I was dismissed in 2009. “I was dismissed because I used the police van to convey Indian hemp, while I was with Edo Command. “It was frustration and poverty that forced me into the business, because I have to take care of 23 children and five wives, though two had left. I regret ever taking to this illicit trade.”

Adeniike Alonge a 40 year old fraudster who allegedly defrauded three companies of goods worth N100 million by issuing dud cheques and 40-year old Lucky, a serial killer alongside five members of his gang were also among the suspects paraded.
